two primary divisions: Metrobus and Metrorail. The two divisions
serve a population of roughly 3.5 million within a 1,500 square-mile
area. WMATA's service area consists of the District of Columbia, the
suburban and outlying Maryland counties of Montgomery, and Prince
George’s the Northern Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax and
Loudoun and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church.
