• In late 1991 and early 1992, MTA Maryland acquired 35 light rail vehicles produced by the Swedish consortium once known as Aesa Brown Boveri. Revenue service began on Baltimore's new light rail system on April 3, 1992 from Timonium Fairgrounds to Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The cars are numbered in the 5000s, in honor of the long-gone Brill streetcars that once dominated the Baltimore landscape. (Information courtesy of the Baltimore Transit Archives @ www.btco.net)
