• This series of buses is powered by the Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engine and the Allison HT-(748??) 4-speed transmission. These models have rounded edges around the front door glass mounts, unlike the 1991 models. 5540-5545 are nicknamed "Hammerheads" because of their oversized destination sign mounts.
